Fuck me, I was just about to post this.
Nearly nine of every 10 - 85% - said the U.S. mission is "to retaliate for Saddam's role in the 9-11 attacks," while 77% said they believe the main or a major reason for the war was "to stop Saddam from protecting al Qaeda in Iraq."
On the plus side, 72% Say End War in 2006.

you support them because if it wasn't for them you'd be living in another country right now.
The military has always been mostly made up of the poor and minority and mostly uneducated of the country, as they see the GI Bill as a way to get an education and a career.
1-2 years tours are non-stop they come home for 6 weeks and go back, and get fed limited news from US Govt approved news sites...

The survey included 944 military respondents interviewed at several undisclosed locations throughout Iraq. The names of the specific locations and specific personnel who conducted the survey are being withheld for security purposes. Surveys were conducted face-to-face using random sampling techniques. The margin of error for the survey, conducted Jan. 18 through Feb. 14, 2006, is +/- 3.3 percentage points.

Are you really surprised? It wasn't too long ago that over half the American population believed Saddam had links to Al Quaeda.
If the word doesn't get to every day idiots living right here, how do you expect it will make its way over to soldiers who are busy trying to stay alive every day over in that forsaken place?
Educate the public and bring them home; they sure as hell aren't going to get anything over there except marching orders and the propganda the Pentagon is flooding the area with at the time.
