Goal of the Game

Quake has two basic goals. First, stay alive. Second, get out of the place you're in. The first level of each episode ends in a slipgate - these signify that you've entered another dimension. When you complete an entire dimension (this takes five to eight levels), you encounter another slipgate which returns you to the start.

What I was getting at is that Quake doesn't have a nightmare skill. It's easy, medium, and hard - same as Quake II.
But I wish I didn't know that well enough to point out. I usually run through one of the dimensions now and then when I'm bored so I see the skill screen a lot.

although its nightmare skill is a joke, and i even find it easier than hard mode since the enemies will negate all AI and just shoot at you with doublespeed. woopee

The nightmare skill was kind of a secret. You had to land on the beam when you enter the last dimensions start room thing. You know, the one with the water.

Fucking owned...thanks I never knew that. I always wondered why the last dimension had that water though in the beginning and also why they have the teleporter down there to let you back up if you're on the ground.
