Ok heres my problem i have to setup some Q4 linux server vr. 1.0.6 why? because Q4MAX version 0.72 dosnt work with the version 1.1 (Windows) version Client side.


My server is set up working. BUT since my version is 1.0.5.5 beta 2. The files don't sync with the server because the server is 1.0.6.

So i need a solution to be able to play with an "old" version on this server.


Also i need to set the maps:
- Phrantic
- Galang
- Pro-bliptourney1
- The Lost Fleet (TMP2)
- Monsoon
has a map cycle and i dont understand i thing in the mapcycle.scriptcfg

if someone understand and can help me with that help is more than welcome. Ive been googlin' for the past 3 days looking around in forum trying thing setuping server etc..

im kind of tired and exausted need a solution on this.

Check *.pk4 files in the q4base directory, and rename previous patch's *.pk4 files to *.ccc for example. Timestamps of files will help you.

Another possibility is to take a break and wait for the final 1.1 release. Won't be very long now. Mod teams have had the SDK already, so a new version of q4max will probably arrive soon after the 1.1 release.

Well the thing is that if i cant make my servers run before friday im a dead man.

I use to be a Ut2k4 admin for big lan wich is WAY different of Q4 for me i dont play Quake 4 a lot. I never hosted/make/setup a Q4 server in my life and peoples asked me to run server for the ESWC canadian final ( Electronic Sport Wolrd cup ).

Seem ok to me. Never realized how Q4 was a half ended game with all thos bugs and stuff like that so im here stuck with some half working server googling asking question around and peoples try to help me at there best wich by the way i apreciate a LOT

all this to say. i wish i had time to wait for a final 1.1 release.

build the server, install linux q4 and the 1.0.5 patch. install the q4max 0.72. (I don't think your server is 1.0.6 but maybe there is a build I missed) The windows clients must also then be on the 1_0_5_beta patch and q4max 072 or they won't be able to join. Yes if they've already upgraded to 1.1 beta they'll have to figure out how to downgrade to 1.0.5.

edit the default cfgs and the default mapcycle (just insert your mappath\mapnames into the mapcycle.) ?

Don't worry there were lots of 1.0.5 servers running so you should be able to make it happen before friday..

If still problem let us know how far you are getting and we can go from there.
