please excuse my ignorance i seem to be missing somthing really silly, but when i try to record a demo in quake 3 using the
g_syncronousclients 1 option
then record (demo)
it seems to treat it as typing rather than a command. ie the text is green in the command console. i have just returned to q3 after been away for a few years,
memory is lacking here please help. i know its somthin silly but just cant remember what cheers for any help also tried some downloads of cfgs but nothin seems to work.

/g_syncronousclients 1
/record
u must place a / or an \ in front of commands otherwise it gets treated as simple text

Correction: The correct cvar is
g_synchronousclients (unless you're running a very old PR)
Open the console (by pressing the tilde key '~' key) and enter the following:
1.
/g_synchronousClients 1
2.
/record [demo name] (where [demo name] = the name for your demo)
3.
/g_synchronousclients 0 (leaving at 1 causes choppiness and lag as the game tries to wait for all clients to be up to date.
4. To stop demo recording enter
/stoprecord.

I suggest that you type these in the console:
/bind F5 g_Synchronousclients 1
/bind F6 record
/bind F7 g_Synchronousclients 0
Have a piece of paper ready, and write down the demo name and a description of what happened if something good happened or whatever.

/g_synchronousclients 1
to enable a demo to start recording.
- If you are playing offline (you created a server yourself), make sure you have
this setting:
g_synchronousclients "1"
- If you are playing the map online (joined a server), make sure the setting is:
g_synchronousclients "0"
otherwise you will "lag".
