MAJOR QUAKE 3 ARENA + MODS PROBLEMS

I recently installed Quake 3 Arena off cd: v1.11 and then installed Threewave v1.6, it then showed the error:
User Interface is version 4, expected 3
when i tried to play either Quake or Threewave
I then installed the latest PointRelease 1.32 in the same folder as Quake 3 Arena and the error still appears but it still says:
Q3 1.11 win-x86 Nov 24 1999
at the top of the console window, i then installed the version 1.31 update to see if the game works with that but it still shows as version 1.11
Also Bid for Power doesnt work and im pretty sure that Rocket Arena wont either.
PLEASE HELP

Obviously, the point release isn't being installed correctly. The 1.32 point release replaces quake3.exe (which shows in the console) and adds a number of new pak files, giving a total of 9 (pak0 - pak8.pk3). Are you sure you installed the PR to the Quake III Arena folder and not to baseq3 or something else?

Also please don't capitalise your post and hype it up. The problem might be important to you, but this forum gets many similar problems and we're not about to go to defcon 4 over it.

Meaning: don't drag and drop files to extract but click the extract button in the zip program you use, which makes the right directory structure.

I unistalled everything and re-installed it. Its working now, but its strange it did that in the first place, maybe because i did not restart my pc when i installed Q3A

Shouldn't be necessary to restart, since it's not a driver or some kind of windows component you're installing.
