Version 67 Protocol!! What's that?

OK, my friend and I tried to play online and when he tried to connect to my server, he says he recieved the message "THIS SERVER USES A VERSION 66 PROTOCOL" . Then, when I tried to connect to his server, I got the same message but instead of "version 66, I got Version 67 protocol. Can anyone help? PLEASE.

I think this has something to do with the version, so is there some way to change my version from 66 to 67? Please help me out.

Download the patch from id. Make sure you are both playing vanilla q3.

You both need the latest 'Point Release', which is a fancy term for patch. 1.32 is the latest patch. Once you both have the same version, you should be able to join most internet servers.
There are still some out there running older patch versions, but they're a minority. If you have a specific need to play on a server with an older version of the game, you should find a link to a 'Point Release Switcher' in the link I gave you, too
