Testing testing testing.... :o

Yeah, ra3 is ok, as long as it's on a pb server. Half the ra3 twats use hacks you know.

How do I contact you? irc? I'll leave my pc on for a while here pointed to #xeno, hope to see ya there. :p

Funny you should mention that, last night I was playing really late ra3 cuz I couldn't sleep. Well, I came across horka lame (or at least someone posing as him) but it was definately someone from q3w, it was quite funny. I think I will make a new thread for that. I got a little demo too. :D

No. Thunderstruck has only one JP, but 3 staircases.

gg d00d... :p

One reason I don't like ra3 very much... the community there is probably the worst representation of the overall type of quaker there is. When you left some guy joined up and spammed curse words when he would loose. I've noticed almost every game has at least one person that fits that kind of profile, as well as a large amount of players using hacks. Last night, granted I was on a pb disabled server, but there where at least 3 people using aimbots present.

gg - wp

yea ra3 tends to attract shit talkers - lot of egos there

but there is also a nice concentration of skill - and it's good if u know a few players who u enjoy sparring with.

also nice is the /aliases command so u can see who you're playing, and also get their guid.

intense combat is way more than a function of aim.

For small 1v1 arena's like Evolution or Thunderstruck it's safe to say that the outcome of the battle depends almost solely on hitscan aim and accurate projectile spamming. The only form of map control present basically is getting to an area that leaves you less exposed than your opponent.

Of course it takes more than just aim to win all battles, but because you always spawn stacked with armor and all weapons, you can always use the weapons that are situationally better, which leads to extremely repetitive shaft, rail and rocket/nade spam situations. That's the only reason why CA/DA is instantly boring to me and why so many 'real' (non-arena style) duelers regard CA/RA3 as a breeding ground for noobs.

rockets will usually overpower anything in thunderstruck, so long as u don't keep ur distance.

the whole point of TS is to encourage close-mid range combat.

and don't fall into the trap of thinking that there's only aim and map control.

There are so many other things at play here.

Good hitscan aim, for example, requires excellent pattern prediction.

You also need to generate complex strafe patterns to remain hard to hit.

The manouvering during countdown is also crucial.

and yea - i enjoy the depth of a good duel too - but 1on1 thunderstruck is great if you have the combat ability to keep up.
