hi,

i am trying to have a schoolwide quake III tourney (and yes, the administration says its ok..) but have been consistently running into a major problem when i try to run quake. I can run the demo fine on every computer in the school (they have a variety of video cards), but cannot run the full version on any computers which have the nvidia riva tnt2 card. Whenever I attempt to run anything - latest point releases, icculus.org's openquake3, etc., it loads all the files, then crashes, saying it 'Could not initialize opengl subsystem.' I've tried a lot of fixes but would appreciate it if anyone would help me out.[/b]

Try reinstalling or updating the graphics drivers for the computer.

I would try glsetup before trying an older driver for your videocard. Older cards have poor gl implementation in their drivers or don't have it at all.

http://www.voodoofiles.com/927 (This file also comes on the team arena cd, it was a recommended install on older cards like the intergrated type, etc).
