Humm, this is interesting.

i just got a Maxtor 250gig SATA2 drive, and i put it in my puter, Start up the windows install and it detects and starts copying the files over.

it reboots, and then hangs at the Windows XP splash screen, then if i reset the windows setup hangs on detecting the hdd.

i have to power it off, wait a min or two, then power it back on to get it to do anything.

can you guys think of somethign that i may be looking over?

Spec's:
Amd 64 3200+ ( was overclocked to 2.5Ghz, But i downclocked it to install windows )
1 gig OCZ DDR500
Msi K8n neo2 plat
Ati radeon 9800

etc
etcccc

The HDD is in SATA1 mode, and i have tryed it in 2 as well.
i put the Old Maxtor in and she works fine! :)

Well when it displays the raid setup, you could hit F4 and rebuild the raid that way.

I'm guessing either a BIOS which needs to be updated in order to recognize the large drive or it might be DOA. Given the fact that you can't get far enough to run a diagnostic, I'd give the flash a try and if its still the same then RMA it.

Apart from the methods already suggested, get the diagnostic disk off the website and see if it comes up with anything out of the ordinary.
