Yanks, what mod should a new server run?

It so happens I can get my grubby paws on the spare bandwidth of an Oakland, CA based colo. Seeing there aren't too many decent New World CPMA servers, I was thinking of hosting one of those (1v1 or 3v3-4v4 TDM) -- probably running a recent ioquake3 build. I am however open to suggestions and so my question to the Yankee Q3W crowd is: what mod should this server run, i.e. what is most needed/wanted and what kind of mod and/or gameplay would attract the biggest and most loyal crowd?

biggest would probably still be osp, most loyal would be cpma. not much of a scene afaik though.

I'm guessing that you're going for something that the regulars around here would enjoy. However, if you want to try something different (i.e. a mod without baseq3-like gameplay), then I have a few suggestions:
-
Western Q3
I've been playing this mod lately and I like it quite a bit. The team plans to go standalone, probably basing it on the
Standalone Q3 source with some additions from ioQ3. There are a few servers already; more than enough for the amount of players (seems to be declining).
-
Navy Seals: Covert Ops
This mod was never popular, AFAIK. It seems to be quite featureful, and also rather buggy. The team plans to go standalone, but no additional details were given. There is one server, run by the NS:CO developers.
-
True Combat
I played this a few years ago and I liked it quite a bit (although not as much as I liked Urban Terror). The team seems to be moving to Enemy Territory, and a standalone or code release for Q3TC seems rather unlikely. There are plenty of servers; too many, considering the number of regular players.
- Team Arena!
Ok, so it has baseq3-style gameplay, but I just recently picked it up and I want to find out what I've been missing all these years.

There are two CPMa servers in Los Angeles, CA. And one in Pennsylvania in the city of... Mechanicsburg.

Then there's two servers left that i can't locate with the
IP address Locator.

I'm afraid this is out of the question since I no longer own TA. LRCTF might be nice but it appears not that many people play it (and I'm not much of a CTF player myself either). How popular is (U)FT in the US of A these days?
@Caffeine: some good suggestions there but I'm not really one for TCs. Ever since UT I've been allergic to those (i.e. Urban Terror, not Unreal Tournament).

UFT has a decent following (you know, decent for Q3 standards these days). IMHO, I would prefer one of the following:
OSP CTF w/ 3wave mappacks - I've noticed an increase in CTF activity on usa servers lately. Might be people coming back from Q4 or what, but I've noticed some servers are very popular.
TDM - AFAIK, there isn't a server dedicated solely to this. There is a good group of people that play it, which usually shows up on a server when they notice TDM is being played (callvoted from other gametypes). On a good day, you can call TDM and like a pack of sewer rats chasing stinky cheese, the TDM bunch shows up pretty avidly.
UFT - Decent range of servers with a decent following, but I'm thinking there are less playing this than would play CTF or pure TDM.

As far as CPMA, it looks to have a smaller crowd then OSP, TDM, or UFT.

osp
gotmilk? tourney just ended (ctf) and with the ggl 1v1 only servers there's really no tdm. HoS and =e= servers usually get voted to ctf with 6+ players.
honestly though, most of the people playing osp are midwest/central/east coast. i rarely see west coast q3 activity.

Can you only spawn 1 server? If you can spawn more than one, chuck up a CPM and OSP simultaneously.
With some crafty scripting you could probably get it to balance a max player value between servers, if that's an issue?

CPMA and OSP TDM servers are up.
acidquake.info:27960 => AcidQuake.info CPMA TDM
acidquake.info:27961 => AcidQuake.info OSP TDM
Eight player limit plus an additional four spectators, voting allowed. Be so kind to report any any quirks and/or shortcomings you encounter. Suggestions for a decent map rotation are welcomed.

maxrate 15000?
and no pb w/ioq3 i presume?
3wave mappacks, hub3aeroq3 and hubtourney, pro-t7, ztn for the osp server.

maxrate 15000?
Correct. The hosting server shouldn't have too much trouble maintaining such throughput.
and no pb w/ioq3 i presume?
Also correct.
3wave mappacks, hub3aeroq3 and hubtourney, pro-t7, ztn for the osp server.
Sounds sensible. I'll upload them tonight or tomorrow.

why not 25000 was my point.

To save on the bandwidth bill. sv_maxrate 25000 can amount to another 200-300 GB each month.

Rate 15000 should be enough for most maps with 8 people playing max. Only on open maps like q3wcp23 when many players are visible at the same time, things can get a bit choppy if the needed bandwidth exceeds the maxrate.

save disk space, skip pro-t7. that map is only good for 2v2... and even there it's dodgy.
