In my audio settings, I can screw around with EAX stuff, but I can't get it to work in Quake 4. I tried to update my drivers, but it takes me to this windows update thing that doesn't seem to work.

The Audio settings stuff that I can screw around with:

i have also found this, but the only thing that i could say is that Quake 4 chooses its own EAX sounds and etc, thats part of the game.. Battlefield does it aswell. ( SHell shock = bathroom :/ )

Btw, find out what make/model mobo you have, and go to the Manufactures website for the Latest drivers :)

What's openal 1.1? Quake says that my card does not support OpenAL.

Well, blame it on creative. I've heard, but don't hold me on this, that most non-creative cards, and not having openal installed, gives sound problems in Q4.

Even if it dosen't support it, give it a try, it won't harm anything. Maybe it says it dosen't support it because you don't have it installed, I dunno.

Yeah. It's just Quake 4 being silly, because I was playing Half life 2 and it totally works with my EAX. Even Half Life 1 seems to at some points.
