i found that whenever i change my screen name to, it always goes back to my old one once i restart Q3
little help?

Sounds like you have an autoexec.cfg with your name in it.
Either change it in there, or remove it so your name will be saved in q3config.cfg and will remember to what you last changed it into.

sorry to sound so stupid but..where is autoexec.cfg?
(I know its somewhere in the Quake III Arena folder)

An autoexec.cfg is user created (or downloaded) but it doesn't come with the game.
If you have one, it is located in /Quake III Arena/baseq3/

hm..i cant find one?
anyother things that might cause this?

Try doing /seta name yourname in the console. Either that, or you can go to your q3config.cfg and change the name in there. q3config.cfg is in the baseq3 folder and in every other mod folder you might have. If you want a new name for everything, you would have to change them all. Makes sense?

That wasn't the cause? Please don't start a new thread if you didn't solve the problem in the previous thread. You could have posted in your previous thread that ASE wasn't the cause, if that is the case.

no..the problem was with quake..not ASE.

reinstall quake, i had a proble once where quake wasen't working properly it was some patch i downloaded messed it up
