Help setting up Dedicated Q3 server

Ok, it's been years since I ran a dedicated Quake 3 server. I have a dedicated server running another game and want to add Quake 3 to my server. Is there any place that list all of the stuff to do it...i.e. config files, remote console settings, server commands...etc.?
I use to run one for years, but moved on to other games and forgot everything :icon28: was even a member here for a long time, but couldn't remember my old password, so had to start a new account...lol!
Thanks in advance.

Thanks man!
I glanced over some of them earlier, but my apologzies I didn't look that close for server stuff. I will check them out.
Thanks for not flaming...it's getting now to where if you go in a forum and someone has ever posted an answer to anything close to what you ask you get flamed to death...thanks for not doing that.
I use to have cd backups of all my stuff...just not the instructions :icon31:
What I use to run was an Excessive Dedicated Server.
Good news...found all my old backups and instructions
What PR is the most used right now? I know a lot of players got tired of 1.32 and were going back to earlier PR's right before I stopped playing.

You can check which PR is most popular with a server browser like The All-Seeing Eye. Just find all the servers under the Excessive filter and then use the version modifier to filter on PR number. It might be wordt checking out the servers in 1.30 and 1.31. All the lamers that run a copy of Q3 without a cd-key play there. :icon3:
Of course Q3 needs to be installed if you want to run a server with a mod like Excessive btw.

You can't run a server without quake3.exe and without having all the resources like the Q3 maps.

Thanks for the information. I have a server pc here and was playing around and got everything installed and up and running...mainly as a test...while I was uploading everything to my real dedicated server that is sitting on the backbone.
It's amazing how quickly you forget all of this stuff when you move on to other games. I've been running a Halo server now for a couple of years and just forgot the Q3 stuff.

What are some of the other server browser besides All Seeing Eye. I never really like that one. I know there is GameSpy, don't know if it still does Q3.

Even though ase has not been updated in a long time, I find it's still the best browser and if I try anything else, I start to miss the ase features, such as built in filters/folders and country flag locations, etc. GameSpy 3D supports Q3, but it sucks imo, and GameSpy Arcade supports it a little better, but well it's bloated as some would say.

ASE is perfect if you play on the same servers a lot. Even with servers running different PR's. You can make favorites for different PR's and then point to the right version of quake3.exe (i have quake3_66/67/68.exe) with the custom config option for those favorites folders. You can try Qtracker but i didn't like that at all.

Thanks! I guess I will go with ASE.
Is there a place on here to post server ip addresses?
Didn't know...I just got my Excessive CTF up and running and just checking to see if there was any kind of list on here.

Nah, there are no stickies for server ip's anymore, but you are free to make a new thread and point to the details of your server, if you wish. Nothing wrong with that.
