Yeah, that's your pak0.pk3 file screwing up. Pop your Quake 3 disk in, and look for pak0.pk3 in the disk's Quake 3 directory, then drag that file into your baseq3 folder.

oh okay

thanks, but will the patch still work?

Hm. If you can open quake 3, hit ~ and look on the lower right side of the console. If you see 1.32, then it works.

Did you try patching the demo version? If you did, it won't work.

You're sure you have the full version of Q3 and not the demo--->?

Buy it from Ebay or Amazon. You won't be able to play Quake 3 online if you have a downloaded version, since there's this prorgram that checks if the validity of your cd key.
It only costs 10 bucks now, or something.

Ok.
Where in the world are you that you can't find a simple cd for $10
which includes Q3 and Ta most likely?
I shouldn't even waste my time in asking this and should just
say goodbye but against my better judgement I'm going out of my
way to ask you this simple question. So I can then point your
lazy-ass in the right direction. I don't mean to be rude but you're obviously
clueless as to where you are posting about a downloaded version of Q3.

I saw Q3 gold at walmart a couple weeks ago. They're still available if you look hard enough.

Game stores aren't where you should look, best chances are at bargain bins and online shops.

$10 and no one said you were poor. Just might have poor searching skills. I just searched for 1 minute and found it on Amazon for $14.

We can't help you unless you have a legit copy. Rules and all besides the fact that it makes it easier since internet versions might in- or exclude certain stuff.

Personally i think my copy and your copy are the same the only thing i need now is a legit cd-key and I will get one of those but what you guys can help me with is by telling me what should be in my Baseq3 folder

Last time to make it clear
Running in restricted demo mode.
This suggests you actually have the demo and not the full game. Patching doesn't work.
Downloaded versions run the risk of being different, this however is not our problem since it hasn't been bought. Ergo: We won't help.
Legit key; until you get one we are hesitant to help, most probably the problem will also be solved when you install it from the cd and then update it.
You're lucky, usually people who confess they have downloaded it have their topics locked.

There are still significant numbers of kids out there that play the pre 1.32 point releases that you can play without a cd-key. If you want to play Q3 to really enjoy it and get better at it though, get your hands on a legit copy somewhere online.
