If they're right, can we change it? No.
Thus it doesn't matter and we should have a jolly good time untill it happens.

Ah, but if they're right and there's no avoiding it, then I want to cash my chips in before the end. Might as well get the mileage, eh?

The Venus Transit will trigger the demise of the 5th Sun and set the stage for the next cycle, the 6th Sun. That is the physical side of the Maya 5th Sun forecast. Unlike many predictions this one is built into the Maya calendar and it can be verified with some historical research. Is the world going to end in a violent crescendo of natural disasters and impacts from cosmic objects? I do not think that is likely nor is it what the Maya predicted.

However, a prolonged period of change is on the horizon that will be ushered in by the 2004 – 2012 ‘passage’. It will culminate in the galactic alignment and complete the precessional cycle at that point.
This is the jist of the article. If this were in fact true, then I guess about the most of what we'll see is a stockpile of hurricanes and other natural "disasters". It's kind of odd reading this really, since we have had a pretty sharp increase in natural activity in the past few years. It would be cool if this stuff was true because then we'd know it would be over by 2012. It would be amazing if all of the Mayan's predictions were right, because that would mean they had an absolutely incredible understanding of how the solar system interacts and how it affects Earth as a whole, an understanding that we obviously aren't even close to.

But of course they were all probably just high on something and having amazing trips :icon30:

Again we can't dismiss any of it as fact because it hasn't happened yet. Now what I was thinking, imagine if the sun just blocked out at that date, total pitch darkness. Would be fucking creepy and everyone would go into chaos. Hmmmmmm

Yeah but there would be mass panic for a little bit. :p

EDIT: But of course we would still have enough energy sources to power us until the demise :o

The mayan "end of time" is kinda BS in itself. Its just the end of the fourth cycle. The way I see it is that they just didn't bother continuing the calender after that date. Terence Mckenna shit is interesting and worth the read, but it is junk science. Obviously.

It means nothing. I mean have calendar manufactures already printed up a calendar for each year untill the end of time?

what the fuck kind of logic is that? If a cataclysmic event is impossible to prevent, that makes it matter all the more. bloody hell.
