Is the power of the computer given over to games when you run them, or do those system requirements get used

all the time? Cause that's a lot with games on top of that.

its a Cirt program to be able to run the Acceloration that Microwank is building/Built into Vista.

Any of the G-Force 7's have this, the rest will fall back on DX9 :)

Recommended 1Ghz CPU? WTF?
Try running XP tidy on a spec like that.

It allows you to sprout wings and fly...its MS's attempt to give Red Bull the run-around.

Early 2007 eh. That still give us quite a lot of time to "Get Ready"

I've been running XP on 1ghz and 512 of SDR for years now. Never had a problem with anything... Windows loads up in less than a minute for me. I'm sure I could get it faster heh...but that's pretty good, innit? Then again I'm pretty picky about what gets installed on my system and I do regular cleanups of all the bullshit that mysteriously appears on my task list heh.

not the cpu its mostly the ram

1ghz is enough for general use but a typical 1ghz pc often has 128mb of ram standard which really slows stuff down

MINIMUM
A Windows Vista Capable PC includes at least:

* A modern processor (at least 800MHz1).
* 512 MB of system memory.
* A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable.

RECOMMENDED
A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC includes at least:

* 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor1.
* 1 GB of system memory.
* A graphics processor that runs Windows Aero2.
* 128 MB of graphics memory.
* 40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space.
* DVD-ROM Drive3.
* Audio output capability.
* Internet access capability.

Is it better for Microsoft to artificially raise requirements and ensure all PC's run desirably? Or is it better for them to state the absolute minimum requirements to run and have half of the internet and media pissed off?

By the way, you can buy a PC that meets the spec for the recommended settings for less than 300 dollars.

The recommended specs for less than $300? I'm doubtful...let's see:

1GB RAM = $50
AMD Duron 1.8GHz = $50
Motherboard = $50
40GB HD = $40
128MB GPU = $35
DVD ROM = $20
Case & Power = $30

Monitor = $90
Keyboard = $5
Mouse = $3

Total: $275 for the standalone system, $373 for the complete package. Hot diggity!
