There are like 4 or 5 servers world wide with anyone one there at any givin time. And they are all on passworded servers. :icon33:
Whats the point of having passwords for servers when almost no one plays this game anymore? I swear

I think you are wrong on that. There's more than a dozen good servers left (here in the usa) to play on.

The passwords are there cuz it's a community thing I guess, if you frequent the active servers you wouldn't have a problem getting the different passwords.

There are also a few baseq3 servers which are good, 2 of them being ctf.

And actually the passworded servers I mentioned are very active still, sometimes you can't get on because it's packed

sorry, no passwords here. join those server's respective irc chans to get the pass; #samurai and #fragpimp on ETG, though you may have to reg at fragpimp site. the other one yer thinking of is =AB= but you can just ask one of those guys when you see them on the hos servers.

just an fyi, CAL and GGL are planning 1v1 osp/cpma ladders soon so there may be some more servers popping up. more than likely those will be passworded as well but you can get those passes from registering on their sites and entering the ladders.

All we ask is you become part of the community by joining the forum (http://www.fragpimp.com) where the password is posted for members or at the very least hop into our IRC channel #fragpimp on ETG and ask for the password.

We usually play CA later at night, after 8pm with the emphasis on fun and having a good time. If you are in training for quakecon this is not the server for you

In anycase thanks for the help. I still fail to see the point of passwording servers anymore though.

Oh, not to sound like a dick or anything but I must be honest. I dont rarely feel like playing detective games by having to join/go to a bunch of sites or firing up IRC(which I havent used in ages) just for the sole perpose of being able to join a server for a quick twenty minute round about. I remember when there was a time that video games catered to the lazy man.

Do you use ase cold? When you click on a server you get a bunch of tabs with info, and one of them is contact info etc. and it should list a homepage url. fragpimp.com, =ab= american bushido also have a homepage, so do the house of samurai servers. Get on there and look up their forums, there's usually a sticky thread with password infos.

wee fun day of quake. Figure out 3 different passworded servers. 1 server completely dies off as soon as I get in. Another one just begines a packed CTF game with 4+ other people waiting already and another that loves to play huge ass maps that no one has and lemme tell you how fun it is to download a map for 5 minutes, play for 2, get kicked becuase of some stupid error, come back and they are on a new map that I dont have.
GG, 40 minutes of my life is gone with 2 minutes worth of fragging. lol

Never autodownload maps (unless they're less than ~1 MB) but just google for the <mapname.pk3> and you'll have the file downloaded _much_ quicker so you can join the game. It also helps if you use Q3E Minimizer, with which you can minimize Q3 in a flash so you can open a browser, download the map and put it in baseq3, then get back to the game without needing to restart it (just reconnect).
