I just bought a Linksys WRT54G router along with a couple of desktop cards. Range is great, got everything working, no complaints.

I just noticed that Linksys now carries the Wireless-N routers. I'm starting to wonder if I should return my Wireless-G router and pick up the Wireless-N instead. Is there any point if I'm already fine with the range on my G? I'm just thinking about the possibility of future-proofing.

the WRT54G is one of the best routers.
the thing won the best product last year in tomshardware's Product list.

It has so much after market formware to mess with the signal, how the router works, etc and all because the thing is running linux!

but i guess it really boils down to a few simple questions..

A) Are you willing to part with the money to get the newer stuff?

B) Do you Send large files or use P2P Apps on one of the wireless computers?

Uhh, thats all i can really think of right now.

Thanks for that... though the article deals with the draft 802.11n and pre-N routers.

I think this new Linksys router is an actual N, since IIRC, they've finalized the 802.11n standard a few months back.

Anyway... I'm going to hold off and wait to see what happens. Won't be a while yet before we start seeing built in N notebooks.
