Official Mapping Channel for Q3W?

I was wondering if there is an official mapping channel where the folks here are LEM hang out on QuakeNet?

Would be nice to have such a channel, so that one could chat with folks more directly :)

This seems to be the official quakenet site:

http://www.quakenet.org/

I hang out in a few channels there. Mostly password protected ones of my "clan".

The servers I use from mirc are:

irc.uk.quakenet.org and euroclan.de.quakenet.org

but any quakenet server should do.

As channel I would propose

/join #quake3worldLEM

trouble is, I only have ISDN and no flatrate, so someone with a flatrate would be handy, just to hold on to the channel :)

Well, Q3W had/has a channel on ETG already, is just a matter of people using it. Now if it is something that you are thinking of to distinguish LEM from the rest of Q3W, then yeah a diff channel would be better.
How about Q3WLEM for a name? Saves on all the typing, long names are a drag :icon25: .

EDIT:
I suggest using ETG as well.

Was thinking of q3wLEM as well... but the longer version makes it easier to find... sorta ;)

I add channels to my "Perform" list in Mirc so that I only copy/paste the name once anyway :)

We've tried it before, but people don't join often enough to make them active. I guess we could try again though.
I'm in #q3wlem on quakenet atm.

So what do you do there?
Beta testing maps?

Anything you want. 'Live' mapping help, general chitchat, beta-testing etc.

The live feedback is great, because this way you can ask about small things, or "small" tips... and get feedback really quickly.

Yeah, this is getting bigger. We're 7 in there atm, and if people joined it when they were online, we can actually get a big channel. Keep it up. ;)

I'm a major IRC noob... but I've joined and configured Chatzilla to work properly.

BTW, for my fellow IRC noobs:
  1. Start up your IRC client.
  2. type /server irc.quakenet.org
  3. type /join #q3wlem

To all the 'noobs' and everyone that generally doesn't like IRC (I include myself in that, always found IRC to be a bit 'techy'), the LEM channel isn't full of leet speaking console jockeys, it's for us level designers to talk about what we do (as well as other things) so if you've never joined an IRC channel you'll find this one pretty easy going!

Why you hate it?
Why you think you should?
, if I'm not being too intrusive.

Yeah, this channel is a total love-package. :lub:

I hate irc because you need to be active, there's never any real slack, if there's slack you're an idler after a while the whole channel idles and there's just no idea to be in there any more. A forum like this is different because there's no one that expects people to be 100% active all the time. I can start a thread here about almost anything and I have a patience for waiting a few days until I get a reply, if not I just forget it or asks in another forum.... etc, you get my point.

Even though all the above is so very true for me I still would try this channel because I know you folks and I find you to be the very mapping elite of this game and we all respect each other as friends and we respect all the newbs, that's a cool thing.

I'm on tf constant, but it's not a friendly space for the normal mapper. If people actually stayed on q3wlem, it could be a nice place.

Yea thats true Fjoggs.

I'd suggest that folks with a flatrate, actually automatically connect and stay in that channel. If you are actually AFK you can simply change your /nick, that way it would be clear who is potentially there.

Alas I can't do that because I have a dialup connection :(
