Quake3World

Maybe I'm a little late in playing it, whatever. Anybody else play this game + have a joygasm over it? I think this is the first really good PS2 game I've seen, but I don't play games much. What a fucking excellent quality game, it almost oozes polish. The dialogue, story, and cutscenes are always engaging and often hilarious. The only other MGS I played was Sons of Liberty, but that was downright awful in comparison. Has good replay value too, a lot of extras. I can't imagine how hard "european extreme" mode is, where if you get spotted, you lose.

The last MGS game I played was MGS: Snake Eater. Is this one the US rebadged version or something?

Subsistence is a vast improvement over Snake Eater. It's the same basic game, but with a brand new 3rd person camera and online multiplayer.

Snake Eater's camera sucked major ass, but this extended edition redeems that.

Also, if this is the "first really good PS2 game" you've seen, may I suggest playing God of War? RE4 PS2 if you don't have a Gamecube?

Yeah, it's snake eater but with a lot more extras. I'm trying to beat it on extreme mode right now, but each boss is taking me like 2 hours, shit.

MGS2 wasn't bad at all

MGS3 is one of the finest games ever created. As with its predecessors, excellent storytelling, script, and voice acting. The battle with The End is quite possibly the best boss battle ever (so don't skip it ). I couldn't believe how intense the last two hours or so of the game were. And you probably won't find a better ending (or intro for that matter) than the MGS3 ending.

Can't wait for MGS4

Superb game, with one of the best storylines and characters in a video game. The ending has me in tears everytime

I bought this game about 3 weeks ago. I forgot all about it until now. It is a great game though.

The end boss fight was brilliant, I didn't like it for the first hour or so, but then I really got into it. Not looking forward to it on Extreme though... maybe I'll catch his parrot.

Yeah the last 2-3 hours of that game just doesn't let up. I thought the ending was pretty powerful as well, it's a good way to further Kojima's point that soldiers are never anything more than tools to governments, as well as establish the creation of the big boss character and why he's the "bad guy" in the original games.

The main theme is also one of the best pieces of music ever in a video game. The whole franchise makes me wet, which is why its difficult to resist paying for a PS3 to play MGS4.

And indeed, a PSP for MGS:P
