K, I have an Abit NF-7 mobo, and my CPU temp is at about 64. Not the worst case scenario, yeah?

Well, as it's summer right now, for some odd reasons under full load, the temp goes up to over 70. The system seems to automatically respond, cause SpeedFan shows that the system automatically has risen the RPM, which, though, is too late cause my computer has already started the alarm for the warning temperature. Rather than go about rising the warning temp, I would much rather reduce the temperature alltogether.

Is is it possible to change what temp the mobo keeps my CPU at, cause I've looked at the BIOS and I didn't seem to find the setting, may have been my stupidity though.

you may want to see if you can have the fan go full speed all the time .. instead of only increasing rpm when it hits a certain temp.

you can't change in the bios the cpu temp unless you underclock your cpu ie slow the cpu down below it's advertised rating as far as i know.

sounds like you need better cooling inside your computer case. google can help a lot with that.

Well, yeah, what I actually had in mind was increasing the RPM of the fan, but I still haven't found if and where it can be done. Plus I would rather not have it run at max possible RPM, it's loud enough as it is.

Can't you set Speedfan to increase the RPM at a lower temperature, say at 60C?

I'm guessing you have a Athlon XP, and 70C is not a healthy temperature for it to run at.

Alternatively you might want to invest in a more powerful heatsink/fan. It may take some work to put it there, but it will probably both give you a lower CPU temperature and less noise.

Other than that basically the only thing that is left to do is to underclock your CPU during summer, which kinda sucks.
