WIN XP product activation

I just installed my friends Win XP home, and it continually asks me for a product activation.
Heres some proof that I AM using a real key, not some random one from a keygen or crack site.

I'm using the key slapped on the side of my tower. I blanked out all the unknown numbers just cause I dont know what they're for.
Do I really need to resort to their technical support, or is there an easier way to get around this..

I like your concept of "proof"
If you indeed have a real copy, call technical support. Activate your XP with the automatic telephone bitch. Follow the instructions and speak clearly or she'll piss off at you. If it says the key is invalid, you will get referred to an actual tech support line so you can speak with a Bulgarian/Paki woman who has no idea what she's doing.

Well if you're using your xp key on his, then you're kinda fucked.
Because you're only allowed to install it on one machine, it's reckonizing different hardware.
You can only make a couple changes, if you make to many then you'll have to call them to get it activated.

I've had to call a couple times. They say we are having technical difficulties.
Then they tell you to call back in 15 minutes. :icon33:

Ok so you’re installing XP Home on your computer?
Using your key.
But with your friend’s XP disc?
If I've interpreted that correctly then:
Keep in mind that the key on the side of your case is an OEM key, and if you're using your friends disc and it is a retail disc then it will not work.
Retail keys work with retail copies and OEM keys work with OEM discs that bare the same lot number (the number you scratched out in the upper right of the sticker).

I believe there are 4 catagories for Windows XP Pro, not sure about Home. There is retail, corp, OEM and Upgrade. The activation process isn't all that picky, you can activate XP on 2-3 machines as long as there is a while, a few months or so, between activation.
