Impreza Shift Knob

Currently in the car shopping market and a 2002 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS is looking to be a good candidate. The only thing I don't really like, and this may sound trivial, but I don't like the stiched leather shift knob. Anyone know of a good place to get, or look at, shift knobs. I am looking for something that would blend in with the interior and not be too flashy or out of place.

if the only reasoning for not liking it is aesthetics then it's trivial indeed. you'll never actually look at the damn thing as your driving. if it feels fine the deal with it for now as that's a fucking awesome care you're looking at. i wasnt too happy about the look of the stitched leather in my wrx at first either but after driving the damn thing for over 3 years now i realize that i've only actually looked at the shift knob maybe only a dozen times at the most.
however i did just recently put a perrin shift knob on and i'm loving it. it feels nicer in the grip and the weight. i got it for free though, i could never justify paying $50ish for something as trivial as this. but if you must, there's hundreds of places to get shift knobs, just google it.

Yea, the prices are rather high for a shift knob. I was more or less wondering if anyone knew of a place where a good one could be purchased for something like $20. The reason isn't so much for looks really, it is more for the feel. On another car, which we currently own, the original owner opted to get the upgraded factory shifter which was high gloss wood. It is nice to be sitting there at a stop light with that feeling in your palm, but $80 feels better in the wallet.
So far I have only looked at the vehicle. Stopped and asked about it last Saturday, but the guy didn't offer a test drive so I didn't ask for one.

i will leave you with this...
its hard to get a shift knob to fit OEM parts....
that is what makes the diff from the $20 knob's to the $50-80 ones... Fit and finish
if i was you, i would just leave it be for now.. drive the car and get used to it.. if it still bothers you a few months down the road THEN Start looking for a knob to replace it with..

I agree with AmIdYfReAk, if I get the car I would wait for a while and see if the stiched leather still bothers me

The Impreza is a 2002, but it has 78000 miles. What are peoples opinions on a Impreza when it gets into those miles, is it a really strong engine, or will it need work once it elipses 100,000 miles.

Impreza engines are bomb proof!
Just make sure you treat it well and it will treat you well! Give it a good trashing once in a while or it will clog up.

I have no personal experience with them but I have heard a lot of praise around the old subaru imrpeza's RS's from a handfull of local rallycrosser's here. Very durable and reliable cars that can take abuse unless your trying to hot rod it and do burn outs on dry tarmac.. lol
wait... I was thinking of the pre 02 RS's...
I didnt even know they made the 2.5RS in 2002. lol I cant imagine it would be all that different from the 98-01 and 04+ RS's though, which I havent heard many complaints from. *shrugs
It doesnt take 100k miles for an eclipse/dsm to go to shit.
