I'm trying to block the p2p program since it's hogging the bandwith.
I tried the ports but I don't think I'm setting it up right. Can anyone tell me how to block the ports?

the router is a linksys BEFSR41 V3

What's the problem with it? I found it more casual then Kazaa and really fast at downloading. Is it bothering you at the uploading? If so, can you set it to a minimum upload?

if its hogging a shared network and its banwith, the only way to really block it is to Get inbetween it and the internet...

i will check in and see if that router as what its takes to do it, my WRT54G does.

find out what port it is running on, Make sure its not using UPNP ( I.e. it mapps itsself through the router without concent ) and Use QoS to limmit the ammount of upload that he/she/it is using.

That is about the only way, Considering Lime is JAva, its rather hard to block.. ya know? :)

I heard it keeps using other ports if some aren't available, is this true? I tried to contact my isp to block it from accessing it at all and well.... they didn't help much :dork:

are you able to get on that guys/girls/its computer?

you could force it to use a port then Use QoS tp limmit the banwith.

Nope.

So go into your router, and turn off access to the net.. theres a schedual thing in almost all router configs now..

that router dosent have it,

i would say Sniff it and see what port its using and Enable QoS..

give it a try.

Hummm, sorry mang :)

i went alittle over your head there..

Uhhh, the way that i would do it is to do a little NEtwork sniffing, what that does is looks at the network traffic and basically gives you a read out of what is happening as it happends... Now if you look close enough and round it down to his/her/its IP then you will be able to tell what Port the App is running..

That would allow you to use QoS on your Router...

Now what Qos ( Quality of Service ) Does is simple, it effectivly add's a Throttle on a selected port within a network. USually this only has to do with uploads ( that is the part that will fuck your pings up 90% of the time ) and by you "capping" it at say 50% of your upload, you wouldent even notice it.

i'll see if i can find a guide on How to sniff and etc.

Just unplug him/her

They ask about it, say something about limewire running 24/7.

They dont like it, fuck em, pay the cable yourself.
