copy/paste quit working

Any ideas what might cause simple copy/paste functionality to stop working? It happens fairly frequently on my desktop which I'm using remote desktop to control from my laptop. If I go in to services, clipbook is set to autostart, but is not running. If I try to manually start it, I get an error. If I reboot, copy/paste works again.
