this setting realy smooths things out for me, but ive read here that it causes mouse lag, and read in some guide that it betters the mouse performance. i havent seen this in any of the pro configs, but without it on 100refresh rate and 125maxfps things are a bit chopy. if i set maxfps to 100 its smooth as with r_swapinterval but i get kind of a little wave going up and down on my screen. with any other maxfps value the wave goes away but its chopy again.... any idea whats happening?

You should be able to get smooth gameplay by using r_displayrefresh, and then you can turn off swapinterval (also known as v-sync). I play at 800x600 online, com_maxfps 125 and r_displayrefresh 120. Smooth as butter.

are you sure your monitor is refreshing at 120hz? just because you set it in q3 (r_displayrefresh) doesnt mean your mon can pull it off at whatever res you're using.
also, be sure that you have the latest monitor drivers installed. you could be using default mon plug 'n play drivers which won't always allow you to set such a high refresh rate.

Another thing to consider is if your actually getting the constant 120 FPS.
If your FPS flickers, that could cause the jitters. drawFPS and see if it flickers from 125 at all.
