Lan Card failure

Ipconfig/release dumps
Ipconfig/renew restores......
But after awhile it drops back out again and Im stuck back to square one.
Behind a router and out via a sat modom.
Im tired of going back to dial up for something that used to/should still work.
Any Ideas?

keep track of the time and see if it always drops at the same time interval.
could be an isp issue
i asume you have setup your lan connection as "always on"
does your modem light turn off "like when the power goes out" then resets itself , i had that problem with a bad cable wire to my modem

Wheres always on. And light is internal. wires not long enough to turn it around.

Form, first tell us your setup.. then i think Ax can explain what he is trying to say
are you connected to a Broadband service ( Cable modem, DSL, ADSL, Fiber Etc )
Do you have a Router in the mix to share the connection?

Update your NICs drivers and see if it resolves the issue. It wouldn't be an ISP issue since you're behind a router and unless the router is rebooting itself you wouldn't lose your LAN connection/address. If you can't find the NIC drivers then post the NIC vendor and model here and someone will help out.

Dynex dx-e101 is the Lan card. And I did find a newer driver for it but windows says that I already have the best driver for it.
The wifes computer isnt droping out, but mine is.
The router is Linksys Wireless-G.
Anyway I just got home and booted up amd its acting fine. Ill keep my eye on the clock anyway.

I took a look at the Dynex card at Best Buy a while back and compared it next to a D-Link (or was it Creative) card. Exact same card. Outsourcing, sometimes, sucks ass.

I updated the drivers finaly, after I deleted the card form the hardware profile.
I can say I havent droped out in over 5 hours, tho I do notice my dl speed has droped considerably. Used to get a laughing 90k and now dls are at 30 at best.
Thx for help and Ill get it sorted the rest of the way out.
