If he has Windows 2000, then just setup an FTP server on his PC.
Much less hassle, and less chance of problems.

Shit, n/m, I just realized Win2k Pro doesn't ship with IIS by default.
But you should be able to add it (Add/Remove Programs

Add Windows Components), then setup an FTP server from there.
Otherwise, it depends on which OS you are running, and/or whether or not you have Dave running on it.

Ah, then you should natively be able to connect to Windows shares.
Go to the XP machine, right-click on the folder you want to be able to put stuff in, click Properties, then go to the Sharing tab.
Share it out as a short name with no spaces or special characters.
Make sure his firewall is either disabled, or is setup to allow you full access to his machine through NetBIOS/Microsoft Networking.
Then go to your Mac, and........ Mount the share somehow? I'm a little hazy on the Mac side, so you're on your own there.

In the finder type command-K and the enter "smb://(computer name or ip)" to connect to his comp. You should be able to see his computer in the Network part of the Finder if you have Windows Sharing enabled, but if not, the Command-K option should get you connected. Then enter the proper login and password, and choose the share that you want to mount. From there it's easy.

ZFTP is the simplest FTP Server I've ever used. Seriously moronproof.

Apple has a built-in FTP server that you can just enable, and then log in as that user to have access to the home directory.

chloe sent schematics of gas stations and toolsheds to jack bauer's toaster/wafflemaker all the time. if a fictional TV character can do that, i don't see the problem

I'm pretty sure you can mount windows shares in mac. I've only ever had to do it once, so I'm not extremely familiar with the process.
