the best part is when Visual Studio decides that it nexts to rewrite the HTML portion of my ASP code every fucking time I open the page (or open a project that has the page open), causing Source Safe to prompt me to check it out. At this point I either have to either check the file out or click edit locally. If I edit locally I have to check it out whenever I save all, build, or debug. So, to get around that I have to find each file thats out locally and close it and discard changes.

Now, if you just check the file out you can't instantly check it back in because that will cause the file to become locked in a check out state (thats a whole other rant).

maybe its more of a problem with your visual studio then rather the sourcesafe
