I want something free, efficient, stripped down, and compatible with my msn list.

I know trillian does the job - is that recommended?

Hey Jules, I've never had good experiences with MSN on Trillian - I mean constant disconnects thats neverending. I personally wouldn't recommend it.

hm seems like i have to create a new profile and then manually add my msn contacts.

Isn't there an msn alternative which allows me to login using my msn passport so i'll automatically get my contact list?

i haven't had any problems with trillian, but i rarely talk to my few msn contacts.

tried gAIM?

will gAIM allow me to do what i want?

I'd rather keep my msn profile and use it with a non-msn proggy. Is that even possible?

i don't recall having problems with it. just like trillian better because it's more flexible imo (visually, at least)

well not really import - but can i log on using my msn passport and have it automatically get my regular contact list?

(just like logging in with ur msn passport on a friend's computer will show all ur regular contacts)

Been using Trillian to keep both my ICQ and MSN contacts both at home and at work for years now, works great for me.

yes, just log in with your passport, your contacts are stored on the server side, so you'll get your contact list automatically

MSN didn't exist back when I was at the university and started using instant messaging. Only kids and people who wasn't down with the 'net back in the day use MSN. Old school representz.

Meh, ICQ... back in my days, when men were men, women were women and small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri were small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri, we used to talk.
