Prey. The red character is your health and the blue is your meter for spirit walk.

Yeah, Prey.

Doing poorly on ammo, there.

However, health isn't such an issue with this game, because you can restore it in the Indian afterlife by shooting red valkyres.

It all makes perfect sense.

the "find a key to open the door" level. i think every fps EVER has had at least one of these levels (actually, i think almost every level in Q1 was like this... silver, gold, advance, silver, gold, advance, ad infinitum). some variations are finding a keycard, finding a pda, or (my favorite) when you have the key and have to find the secret door.

blatant filler to make a game seem longer without any sort of creative effort by the developers.

similar themes are "block puzzles" and combination locks that you have to figure out (aka guess).

Yup.
I think Doom started it.

Of course, *every* game uses such methods to allow you to advance, and open up a gateway to the next level, but usually it's disguised by doing other chores than finding a key.

Bum-ish?

Don't exactly know what that means but it might have something to do with my scaling it down from a 1024x768 tga => 800x600 jpg for forum readability purposes.

Or it could just mean he looks like hes getting his spirit love from planet Anus.

None of your gay fantasies please.

Want cliches? How about the classic "Doctor/Mad Scientist who always wants to take over the world and must be foiled"-cliche? Too many games to name with storylines like this and these big bosses always end up with a doctor's degree. I want to stop a gynecologist or lawyer from taking over the world for once damn it.

the entire plot line of "science experiment goes wrong and heroboy must save the world" is pretty cliche.
