Hi, I am running a baseq3 Deathmatch server and right now I have all maps (including the tourney ones) except the CTF ones on it. I don't know if this is the best idea. Are there any maps that I should not have on it (like if nobody likes it or something)? And should they be in any specific order? And any other options I should have enabled/disabled?

you're on the right track leaving CTF maps out of a DM only server, unless it's votable of course. i would look into throwing a couple of custom maps in there for DM.

take a look at some of the other DM servers and see what custom maps they're running and pick a couple of those for starters. for example, Overkill is a popular one.

I kinda was leaning away from custom maps, because I get a lot more players without them. Is there a redirect for quake 3? The line the server is on is to slow (768k) to push custom content to other players.

that's too bad. people really don't know what they're missing with the community's maps. as to your redirect question, i don't think so, but maybe someone else can chime in on that.

And another thing, is it a good idea to enable autobots? So it always reads at least 2 players are on the server and if somebody connects there will be a bot until somebody else connects.

1 or 2 bots may be good a idea to keep the lone player willing to wait.

Ya thats how its set up. Anyway I really would like word from the community on what stock maps are the ones I should have on the server, because I highly doubt they are all considered good. Or at least, what maps SHOULDN'T I have? Remember I am also using the tourney maps 1-5.

Unfortunately, this isn't the case. You could include a link to a web server hosting the maps in your MOTD, of course.
