How much fps in quake i would get with this setup
Intel Celeron 1GHz
GeForce MX 4000 128MB PCI
512 MB RAM

woah thats alot. is that all on high detail? I would run everything on low like i do already. would it go to 125 fps?

i dont know what kind of fps you would get with that computer. i was just kidding.
i would guess 125 fps on low detail. what setup do you currently have?

You should get above 100fps in Q3. Make sure your com_maxfps is set to allow it.

for the current comp i have it set to 125 i dont even get a steady 30 fps it goes to 40, 30, and drops down all the way to 9 sometimes.

With the right graphics settings, even with your current system you can get pretty ok fps.
com_maxfps 125
r_picmip 5
r_vertexlight 2
Try those (there are a lot more, but those are probably the biggest performance enhancers)

Hmmm. It could be the celeron. So many people say it's all about the vid card, but I think the cpu plays a bigger role in the game play. The better the vid card, the faster the game will load, but the bigger cpu is what makes it play faster.
Keep tweeking your settings. Try shutting off all extra effects, and set your video settings to the fastest possible.

i would say.
i got 95 timedemoed on my 800mhz athlon with geforce2 gts 32mb / 256mb sdram, so im sure you'd do fine

i had 125fps with low detail and some typical tweaks with an athlon 1GHz, geforce mx2-400, and 256MB ram.
overclock that celery a little and you'll hold 125fps solid with no prob.
