hah so this guy sends an email to the student list, trying to get rid of a XP disc that for some reason dosn't work. (I'm thinking PEBKAC)
Subject: xp system that I never used

I have a xp pro sysem that I never used. my old computer was damaged before i could use it and my new computer already was xp media.
Yes this system is free HOWEVER IT WILL NOT TAKE UPDATES FROM WINDOWS UPDATE.
If you want to up date you need to by and update disk.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You're talking about a Windows XP Pro CD correct?
Not an old computer system?

If that's the case then, do you have the Original Product Key that came with that disc?
That would be a 25 character code with the CD.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes im talking about a XP pro CD that i've never load to a computer and it does have the code

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cool, I'll take it, if you still have it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok you got it. But I do have to warn you it does not take updates form the internet. but you can have it

Assuming it is a XP Pro disc with a legit key.

I haven't the heart to tell him he's an idiot.

True, but even so.

If he's just an idiot, then that's one more legit copy of XP. :icon14:

He may also have some funny OEM version, in wich case I can just remake the disc without an answer file and all will be well. :o

Welp, turns out it was indeed a useless copy.

As soon as he handed it to me I recognized the useless FCKGW corporate key from days of old.

Oh well, better me getting it and tossing it, than it just bouncing from moron to moron.
