I wanna help the people have a MODEM with 56k: (on console)
If you are with low (very low) ping, try It:
. rate 4500
. snaps 30
. com_maxFPS 125
. cl_maxPackets 30
I you are with ping good, try it:
. rate 4000
. snaps 30
. com_maxFPS 125
. cl_maxPackets 30
If you are with bad ping to play, try it:
. rate 3000
. snaps 30
. com_maxFPS 70
. cl_maxPackets 30
But, if you are with A HIGH PING, try it or go sleep :icon25::
. rate 2500
. snaps 20
. com_maxFPS 60
. cl_maxPackets 30
Thanks

never keep your snaps at 20 - use at least 30. Also keep your maxpackets at 125 unless you start lagging badly.
high maxpackets makes your ping APPEAR higher on the scoreboard, but that's just a bug.

Actually julz he's pretty spot on. 56k dosen't have the speed to pull that many packets

BTW a good com_maxfps value for 56k is 55FPS. The physics are pretty good and it's at a good cap to keep your connection from being overloaded.
125 can swamp a 56k under certain conditions.

my motto is always use the highest value of maxpackets possible UNLESS you start lagging badly (as i said in my original post).
Then lower it to the highest value possible.
u'll notice the lag immediately if your maxpackets are too high, since your upstream clogs up.
