I have a unused pc and was thinking of throwing linux up there and running some Q3A servers. It would be connected to a 100Mbps pipe so bandwidth shouldn't be too much of a concern. I was just wondering about how many 20 slot servers I could run on it at once.

Pc's specs:
A64 3200+
1GB RAM
120GB 7200 rpm SATA HDD drive

Just looking for any help you can give. Thanks!

Speaking from past experience, you should be able to run four or five servers under full load without a hitch. Check out http://icculus.org/quake3/ - it has the nasty bug fixed that makes you reboot your server every 24 to 48 hours.

If there are some bot-unfriendly maps, bots will eat up cpu resource.
On my local dedicated server adding 31 bots increases my ping by 50 msecs or so even in a bot-friendly map.
