Q3A FPS locked @ 120

I have a radeon 9800 pro (omega drivers 3.8)
Athlon 64 3700+

I have checked that V-Synch is disabled and yet my FPS somehow seem to be locked at 120 FPS

I have com_maxFPS set to 125.
I have tried r_displayrefresh at 0, and at 125 (neither gets me out of 120 FPS)

Any one have any suggestions?

What's wrong with 125fps?

I can't get 125fps

It's locked at 120fps and no matter what I try, it doesn't hit 125fps

Try 142 that's the magic number I use .. and if you need to lower it .. well then I find 127 works wonders or try 83 all of these are valid ... try the dm13 MH jump with them.

com_maxfps 142 is used offline and com_maxfps 125 should be used online.

rename your config file and let q3 generate a new one, as soon as the game loads type /seta com_maxfps 125 and /seta r_displayrefresh 125

/vidrestart

if that works you got something borked in your other .cfg file..

r_finish 0
r_swapinterval 0

Make sure your video driver doesn't cap the game or forces it to wait for vertical retraces before updating the screen.

Duhard,

I'm curious as to why you think this is so. Any chance you could explain for a mere mortal like myself.

Thanks

It's easier to do trick jumps such as the dm13 mega and the t2 tele jump when you use com_maxfps 142 offline and com_maxfps 125 online. For some reason, the height of your jump changes from online to offline if you use the same settings so if you change it, you can bypass this problem and let the ownage begin. I'm sure there must be a more "nerdish" explaination behind that and some nerds *cough* in here can explain the technical reason why it happens that way but I really don't give a dang about the mathematical explanation behind that cause 500 words essays aren't my thing. My purpose is to know and that's the way it is :D

So if you practice at 142 offline, just make sure you switch back to 125 when you go online if you want to be able to do the trick jumps. You can use com_maxfps 333 online as well...if you can handle it.

all true, though most good servers will bump you to a max 125 again anyway.

to the original question: make sure your vid card settings (in windows) aren't restricting the refresh etc. tell it to let the application control all that stuff.

Damn... So there isnt a universal server-side script that uncaps the frame rate?
