Crappy connection lag

I've been trying to start playing Q3 again, but I always seem to have problems with lag. I'm on a cable connection and other games including Enemy Territory seem to run fine. It's just in Q3 that I will get on average 40-60 ping and periodically, it will shoot through the roof to 200.

I added the following to my .cfg already:
set cl_maxpackets 125
set cl_packetdup 1
set rate 25000
set snaps 30

Any thoughts?

Might be the server you're connecting to (or the path to the server).

1) Start -> Run -> cmd [OK]
2) ping -t q3server.somesite.com
3) Connect with Q3A and play for a bit

Are in-game spikes reflected in the output of `ping`? If not, does the lag happen with and without PB enabled?

Thanks, but it appears to be a configuration issue with wireless cards/router. It was occuring with other games as well, it seems, just less noticable than in Q3. Solved now.

You can try lowering your cl_maxPackets to "60" or "30" if you find yourself spiking.
