drive cloning?

I purchased a new 250gb drive to replace my 80gig drive. I tried using Norton Ghost to clone it but it aint workn. are there any good free cloning softwares? Or is it not possible to clone a drive then install it and use it? Help...

haven't been home to try it yet. but so far this is discourging news since I am running 2 Western Digitals but I will try anyways...

i am not sure that WD's utillity can do it,
check it out though,

and if memory serves me right, i have used the maxblast software on other drives, i.e Seagate, etc.
its allways worth a try anyway

Ok, thanks for the suggestions. Here is what I had to do...
Maxblast wouldn't run on my system.
the WD software program worked but not perfect, a few windows apps didn't run afterwords, like msconfig ect. so from the original HDD i made a backup image with Norton Ghost and restored the new not so perfect drive with the Ghost image. and everything is happy since :icon26: .
Since I have 2 comps with AN78x's & Athlon xp's, I was able to simply swap the HDDs even though the first computer had the deluxe mb with AIW Radeon9800 and the second only has the standard mb w/Radeon 9000 the drivers work perfect. However Windows did ask for reactivation on the second comp.
So I was able to tripple the space on the first computer and double the space on the second :icon31:
