to get a second key for a Ford Focus (2005 or newer). has anyone tried this? went down to the local Ford dealer today and was quoted 75euro to buy a BLANK key. then i had to go and get it cut MYSELF to match my original key. after driving around and looking in no less than FIVE locksmiths i finally found one that would cut my key, due its strange new extra slim design thats seemingly impossible to cut, charged me 50 bills. now i have to go back to the dealer and get my whole car REPROGRAMMED for the zapper bit of the key to work with it. i have to now wait at least a MONTH before they can book me in for this reprogramming. and god knows how much theyre gona charge me for that shoite

the worst part is my mate has a 02 Focus and the other day he simply bought a second key over the counter for 30euro. simple as that. who says new technology is more convienient eh?

(allmost) all cars are comming with them now as part of The ODB system of the ECU.

yeah but it was the whole inconvenience of driving around for ages looking for places that would cut the blank and this reprogramming malarky that pisses me off. we've started on the downward spiral into utter reliance on technology thatll soon lead to our downfall. just look at 2001: a space odyssey. my Focus is a microcosm of the concepts portrayed in that movie.......

deargod, there is alot of guides out there that show you how to disable the Key reader and to the ECU everything is fine.

Do that if you dont like it, and move on..

Ohh, and i dont know if i need to mention this, but that will Void your Electrical portion of your warrenty.

u mean like to reprogram the key myself? man that sounds like a lot of effort, i mean more effort than what im currently doing. and u mean doing it myself will void my warranty or the initial process i described will....cos that would really put the icing on the cake....

No, i mean going into your steering colum and taking out the wires, identifying the "Security" wires, then using a set of resisters Solder them on the lines in such a fashion that the computer of the car will think that any key is the right key..

simple as that, i had to do it on my fathers caddy, it started not to like the key... wile he was driving it... thus locking the steeringwheel and stalling the motor.

safe+++

you can program it yourself if you have 2 keys. the instructions are in the manual.
if you only have one key, you have to have the dealer do it, because they don't program the new key. they strip the security programming off the computer and then do both keys.

a personal note: if a dealer tried to sell me an uncut key; i'd tell him to fuck off and goto another dealership.

also, I have a 2000 focus, and my keys need to be programed. You're friend with the '02 must be forgetting the details or had two keys so he could program the 3rd himself.

on an unrelated note:
wtf is up with the two names?
that some sort of statement about pretentious cunts who hypenate their last name when they get married?
poor decision making skills?
multiple personality disorder?
or perhaps is that entire string of crap supposed to be all one name?

I assume that plugs into the RZA somewhere just behind the deltron 3030

EDIT: And adds a feature designed to stop one being caught ridin' dirty.

nice one nick, how do you like that BEast..

and the reason i call it a beast is simply because of its weight, not power :) allthough it can have power, and lots of it

It won't replace GZA because when Wu-Tang forms like Voltron, GZA is the head.
