Hi. I map for Doom II and I would like to know if it is legit to use Q3A textures and music (with the Quake 3 logo). I am mapping a Doom II CTF map similar to Q3CTF3...I have sent an email to IDSoftware asking the same question, but I am not sure if I need permission to use the textures/music in Doom II or not, or if I have to give credit to them when my map is finished. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The source code has been released under a GPL, but the game assets have not. So the answer is no, you won't be able to use Q3 game assets for other games without prior written permission from id Software.

In Doom... 2...? You mean classic Doom...? They would look seriously out of place mate.
It sounds like you trying to make a mod, or tribute map. In which case you will gain more respect for re-making what you see. Its not easy trust me, but it could be worse, you could be remaking everything like I am in an higher end engine... Oh its fun

Actually the textures look pretty good for being in the classic doom pallet. There's very few that don't look right. And yeah, it is a tribute map. I may also make Q3CTF1 in classic doom. And, o'dium...I don't think I'd ever map for Q3A...I downloaded Q3Radient at one point and it looks uber confusing. Kudos to you
And if you guys don't mind. I'll show you a screenshot in classic doom of what my map is going to look like once I get permission from IDSoftware to put it out there...

Really? I downloaded DeePsea (and I think I tried DoomBuilder as well) and found it to be more confusing than Radiant.
Well, good luck with the project.
