Anybody use a wireless keyboard?
What's the distance you can have the reciever away from the keyboard.
How long do the batteries last before they need to be recharged?

Ive got a logitech media desktop (I dont think they make them anymore)
-Can use it from about 3 metres away if the keyboard is in line of sight of the receiver (mouse dock)
-Batteries last fooken ages, had the current ones in for the past 3 or 4 months

i picked up a Logitech iTouch cordless a couple years ago (Model # Y-RC14)

logitech has since churn^H^H^H^H^H improved their wireless line, but theoretically anything you get will be an improvement
It's RF and works without LOS to the receiver. Batteries normally last a couple months with a couple hours of use a day. The only quirk that's ever emerged has been been that it sometimes confuses the state of the ALT modifier key, and I have to hit the reconnect buttons on the base and board with ALT held to get it straight again.
also, i'm not paranoid enough to think anyone's eavesdropping on my keyboard, but it's certainly a creepy thought.

I change my batteries evern other month, I think about 3 months mine last and its on all day.
Distance wise, I keep mine about a foot away from the receiver most of the time unless I'm in bed watching a flick then I move about 6 feet, nothing large for me. But the distance depends on what method its using of course, as well as interference etc etc.
I have the MX5000 set.

I forget the model I have, some logitech wireless keyboard and mouse set. The range is at least 12 feet or so. The batteries last for months.

I have a Logitech MX700. I changed the battery in the keyboard only once in the two years that I've owned it and I use it exclusively. In terms of range, I've been able to use them about 6 meters away without problems.
@day: the logitech keyboards have software that allows you to encrypt your keyboard to prevent eavesdropping. Also comes with a nice tinfoil hat accessory.

I had one but two things sucked about it:
- it was a crappy mouse, both ergonomix wise and effective point-click wise
- the batteries i used were rechargables that were drained in about 3 weeks. After a few months this was two weeks, then one. Got to the point where i'd have to recharge them daily, really annoying. Could have solved this particular problem by getting different batteries, but no dice - i'm basically very lazy when it comes to these things.
In the end i ended up requisitioning a regular wired keyboard and mouse from work, which i've used ever since. Perhaps it's also worth mentioning i never actually used the wireless aspect of the keyboard / mouse as in working further away from the desk.

having less wires all over my desk is a big plus imo, no need to use them in another zip code

in my case the wires go through dead desktop space anyways, i.e. between the monitor and the right speaker.

Sorry, MX3000 is what I have.
I bought this keyboard when it first came out. I believe it was a year ago. I have still yet to replace the batteries and I used the ones that came with the kit.

That's good chemistry for you.
I don't use a wireless keyboard as the one I got with my PC works just fine, and I love all the extra buttons.
The wireless boards that I have seen my friends use all run in to annoying problems when playing games, so I keep myself distant form wireless keyboard/mouse tech.

MS keyboard/mouse combo running almost 2 years with no change in batteries
don't know max distance, but it works with the reciever behind the desk (where it fell 2 months ago)
