I'm encountering problems with the skys in American Mcgee's Alice, it seems like r_showsky is always set on 1 (despite me changing it from both 1 and 0 and back again). I don't really know what the problem is, but this is what it looks like:

also note, that when I have something enabled such as r_showtris, r_shownormals or r_showlod then the sky is fine and not obstructing the view, as such:

Alice is a long dead game now and there arent any active message boards, I've found a few people posting the same problem on a couple of forums and getting no responce, being as it's based on the q3 engine i was rather hoping one of you lovely gentlemen may be able to help me? :lub:

system is:
Duron 800
256mb RAM
Geforce4 MX440
XP pro (sp2)

Odd. Never had that problem playing Alice (awesome game, BTW). Have you tried deleting you cfg file? Looks almost like the projection skybox has shifted location.

I deleted the config and it worked - woot.

however, when I changed the resolution back to 1024x768, it came back again - whole screen taken up by the sky, then, when changing back to 640x480, it fixed it.

800x600 reduces the problem and it just flickers up every now and then - enough to be annoying.

Personally, I find this most peculiar..any ideas? or shall I just play through it with lesser graphics? :(

How about this... delete config file, start up Alice to generate a new one, quit, manually change resolutions in the config file to 1024x786.
