Ubuntu 6.10 "Edgy" AMD64-bit version.
Video drivers up to date.

I'm following this guide:
http://blog.xwings.net/?p=11

Seems easy enough, but when I get to running the script, I get the following error:

sudo sh /usr/local/games/quake3/linuxq3apoint-1.32b-3.x86.run
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing Quake III Arena Point Release 1.32b.................................................................................................................................................
This installation doesn't support glibc-2.0 on Linux / unknown
(tried to run setup)

Please contact Id software technical support at bugs@idsoftware.com, or ttimo@idsoftware.com
The setup program seems to have failed on unknown/glibc-2.0

Linux noob alert... any ideas?

I wager it's because your libc is x86_64 while the Q3A installer / binary is a regular x86 app. Give http://ioquake3.org/quake3/ a try, they have an installer for your architecture (alas, no PB support).

AMD's have the ability to run both 64 and 32 bit apps, right? So any possibility of running the script on another computer running Linux x86_32 and then copying the necessary files over?

Failing that, can IOQuake be played online with others running vanilla Quake3?
