its about 1300 USA - give or take a few bucks

is this a good system for recent(ish) games?

That converts on xe.com to 682.267 Great British Pounds.

Head on over to scan.co.uk and put those items in a basket there, and see how much it comes out at. If scan can do it for less than 682.267 GBP, then you're not getting a good deal. On the other hand if scan totals more than 682.267 GBP, you are getting a good deal for 1700 AUD

its pretty close, 660.
I didnt put in the dvd drive, or the case - which it could not find.

Is scan cheap, or considered middle of the road price wise?

Middle road really.

Since that's without a case or DVD drive, looks like the price you've got in the first post is better than scan by a good margin (Case + Drive probably £60-£80 more if it's a good case and drive).
