I think so. The woman had sliced the papaya and was fingering the seeds, claiming it looks like a bush. I saw the distinct similarity. Must've been an Asian bush though. Lots of seeds.

Yeah, the chemical is called acetylene or something, and it's used commercially to ripen fruit.
