I enjoy games for what it is.. games, an escape from reality for a few hours.
Been playing games since i was 8 years old on most gaming plattforms there is, i appreciate 95% of the games i get for what they are.. not what they could have been.
I fall in love with games all the time, the environment, the feeling, the story, the graphics, the characters, the cool weapons, the gadgets, the physics and so on.. and when i say that a game is good, i mean it.. from my point of view ofcourse, but if i sat down with a bad attitude from the beginning and started complaining about the voice characters... the lack of ability to puncture the tires of a car.. the lighting effects etc... then i would probably bash the game hard and then continue to get pissed off of all the missing features that I WOULD put into this game if I COULD PROGRAM FOR SHIT...which i cant.

I dont moan because not all the lamps on that level could be turn off or one of the a.i enemy's acted stupid nor do i whine and compare games graphically all the time.. sure i love a game that looks awsome, but thats not all to it.
I appreciate the 2+ years that a development team have put into a game that i can buy for fucking $60,wich is nothing if you count how many hours of joy you get from it.

I bitch and moan if i buy a $6000 car that dosent work properly, not because a game dident have blooming effects on the rooftop of a building.. for fucking $60.

If we take o'dium as an example.. now there is a younger generation that grew up/came in contact with games when they started to look and feel good.. and what do you see, exactly, a guy that bitch and moan of every little detail on that map or that character and this looks shit and i could have done it soooo much better than a guy earning millions in his wealthy, succesful game company...

Then we have the regular comparing faggots... WTF!!!!..OMG!!111!! this game sucks because it dont have the M4 colt carbine 5.56 mm!!! that an 8 year old faggot mod called cs has..
Gears of War looks soooo much better than Halo 2.. omg omg..
UT2004 has muuuuch better ragdoll that quake 4!!!!
Rainbow six vegas dosent look as good as Gears of war... rainbow six: vegas suck!!!

Strangely enough they dont bitch when they respawn 10 seconds after they died... because THATS REALISTIC!!
Would be awsome if a game got released with uber realism and everythign was like in real life... and BAM when you died in the game it would delete the entire game and destroy your cdkey making it impossible to ever play again... but why.. boohoo.. because you wanted realism BITCH!

There's a difference between bitching and moaning about irrelevant shit and pointing out legitimate things that would have been worth addressing on the developers end.

The selling point of the 360 was its 'next-gen' status. Why the hell buy it if the games aren't living up to that? And I don't think a lot of them are. Of course the gameplay element has to be there, and gameplay trumps specular highlights or whatever the fuck they are called, but the 360 has the ability to give you both and I don't see why devs shouldn't be giving us both with the hardware they now have to work with. Granted, its still somewhat early in the life of the 360, but there has been some absolute shit already released and a whole lot of mediocrity, and a few stellar games. Games are big business now...they are supposed to offer an almost cinematic experience on the latest hardware. Wanting to hear voice acting that doesn't sound like a shitty high school drama production isn't too irrational of an expectation.

And as for my 'rant' about Rainbow six vegas - there is no getting around the fact that the tactical aspects of the SP missions suck balls. Does it mean the game is shit? No. But what has drawn me to the rainbow games in the past is being able to control my team, have them storm the south doors while I come through the north, etc., etc...and you can't do that now.

Now, I think its ironic that reef posts a thread like this, because he's describing the person that is the exact opposite of him...the constant complainer about trivial shit vs. the guy who creams his pants before the release of every fucking game that crosses his monitor and goes on about how absolutely awesome they are going to be. Both are similar in a somewhat ironic sense - they base their initial opinions on things with very little merit.

Sounds like reef has a split identity that's slighty better than his real self but nonetheless still a shitty being.

He makes a good point overall about trivial complaints, but not all complaints are trivial.

He's always labeled himself as someone who automatically leg-humps the latest games, so his point is lost just contradicting his own forum persona. Just my thought.

I probably will.. because, as i said, i fall in love with games.. and i get bored after a few months(sure some have kept me longer.. Q3A, GRAW, DoD etc) and gets equally happy when i find a new game that is awsome.

The next games im longing for is Army of Two, Bioshock and Stranglehold.. and im sure i will post a thread about how awsome they are.

im like you, i need to have most of the games out there for about the same reasons, its a great escapist way which is also quite enjoyable - and has more social aspects to it than people think.
i do however look at it at a more sober perspective, that is that I don't classify every new game as teh greatest gaem evar. au contraire, my lifelong obsession with the medium and especially the last few mainstream years made me more cynical and less subjective to screenshots and flashy trailer movies (even if it is 'in-engine'). almost jaded, if you will :icon32:
but it paid off, sort of, cause i got paid for my opinion :icon25:

Neither do i MKJ, i got a shitload of games, i havent posted about all of them when they were new... or praised them all.
I bought Tony hawk P8 the other day.. havent said a thing about it, the same with Red orchestra, SWAT 4 expansion, Battlefield 2: modern combat and so on...

I dont post about all games i buy and especially not the ones i dislike.
Sure i praise Gears of War, Brothers in arms, Rainbow six vegas, Hitman, Call of duty 3, Joint operations and the likes, but its noway near the amount of games i bought and could have posted about.

What i think it all comes down to is, i guess i have lower standards on games than most people today..
or its like with movie critics, they just HAVE to critisize a regular Hollywood action film and instead praise a yugoslavian documentary about a guy making clay dolls because they are afraid of looking dumb and uneducated.

I love a popcorn flick with nonstop action, tits and gallons of blood... awsome, resting my brain for 2 hours nonstop and just enjoying... but if i had to watch a fucking documentary about a guy making clay dolls and then say its AWSOME... i would be lying, but i might look smart.. eeh?
