Hi Guys!!!
Can someone tell me the best way to play the Quake III Arena game in best way? I have tried to play well but not succeeded.
I have noticed how well the other players play when I play online.
Is there any special gaming devices used for play games like Quake III Arena?
I am playing with normal keyboard and mouse.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Its a old game man, so you have to expect that player have gain skill with time.
If you have just start playing, well practice is the key...

Play and be humiliated for years. Find a server with peeps that will tolerate you and want to have fun. Be polite. Take crap without giving it back. Have fun. Six years will get you to the middle of the pack. If you are young you will probably learn at a faster pace.
Finally - it is the BEST game with great physics. Oh ya - don't chat alot while playing. It really aggravates the bitter old folks that have been playing for years (that's me).
There are config files at:

Another final - learn to be effective with the rail gun.

i don't know about that. just because you're a noob and your skillz aren't up to snuff, doesn't mean you need to take any verbal abuse in-game. fuck that.

Play against nightmare bots until you can beat them, then you will be at a good beginning of taking on normal players. Work on footwork first...then work on aim...then work on uniting them. The best way to learn aim is mastering the railgun/machinegun. The plasmagun/rocketlauncher/grenadelauncher are weapons that require you to know where your opponent is going to go, before they go there. Shotgun is only good when your really close to your opponent. The lightninggun(myfave)requires you to keep the crosshair locked on them while your moving, and will prolly take you the longest too learn to use.
I agree with +JuggerNaut+ though.... Don't be an ass, but don't take any shit. Most of all, don't piss off a server operator..(very important). Well...unless they deserve it! =)

also, be sure to bind your weapons to keys. forget about the scrollwheel (if you're using it) since bound weapons will enable you to switch faster. and the basics of all basics....keep moving. don't stand in one spot and aim or you will die plenty.

I agree with the weapons bind but I never could do that. Between chat binds etc., I stuck with the scrollwheel.

I've never used the scrollbar, as it's useless. You can't do weapon combo's with it. I can't do the whole w,a,s,d...to close together, and my hands are to big to use them. I use the arrow keys, and bound all the keys around them for weapons. Easier to feel my way around. Using the keyboard, becomes somewhat like playing a piano/guitar, once you get used to what's where.
