Sound Card Conspiracy[Sound Blaster Live]

Hey, folks.
Has anyone here detected sound card conspiracy?
Below is a fact about my sound blaster live (strictly, Sound Blaster Live! X-Gamer Australian Edition).
Around year 2001 or so(not sure), when upper edition, Audigy or something like that, was released, I installed unified new driver for both SBA and SBL.
The result was awfully disappointing.
Its sound was no longer clean.
So I reverted back to the old version. [sits as "devldr.exe" in task monitor]
I googled "devldr.exe" on internet and found the top 3 entries claiming that it might be a spyware so you should upgrade to latest driver!
I see some aspect as a conspiracy against new users here.
