Wasn't this game scrapped?

No, it was made into a free download in Japan only; today. Well, I say in Japan only but the announcement was for Japan only. It'll probably be released elsewhere later.

About the screenshots; the first one looks like a toy, the others look like photographs of cars.

Go figure, the German likes the boring, milquetoast Ferrari.
BUT IT LOOKS EXACTLY AS A FERRARI SHOULD LOOK, ZO ALLE IST IN ORDNUNG.

I must say that does look fantastic.

GT3/4 were the best looking PS2 games by far, with GT4 only a little better thanthe launch game GT3.

So does that mean that this is the PS3 maxed out?

Only time will tell.

Either way those pics look fantastic. Even better that its runnign in 1080p at 60 FPS. But with driving games its easier to squeze that extra mile out of performance.

truth on the last bit. especially if theyre not arcade racers - which means slower speed, generally.
and since the tracks are all official tracks (as opposed to the classic arcade cityscape tracks) they can force a quabillion polies on the carmodels alone

Umm, the front looks exactly like the 612. And I think a F430 would probably be more fun to drive.

The 612 bores me to tears. I think the 599 has a far more visceral appeal. And I don't see how the F430 would be more fun to drive, the 599 has what's arguably the most powerful production V12 ever made at 620bhp.

They've done pretty well on those shots, takes a little while to distinguish the photos from the screencaps on the bottom set of images.

I think the thing that lets down the sense of realism the most is also the thing that oddly adds the most to the scene - the bloom effect. It's pretty, but it's not quite real.

I remember GT3 playing on a loop in some electronics store a few years back and not knowing whether it was a badly shot real rally or a video game. I just hadn't seen anything that touched that level of graphical complexity at the time. Now, and after sinking a few hundred hours into the game, it's really easy to distinguish...

You heard it here first guys:

PS3 already MAXED OUT!!!
By publishing a fantastic looking game, Sony has once again proven how much they SUXXXOR!!!!

Thanks to our resident expert o'dium nobody will make the mistake of buying a console that has fantastic looking games. I mean, who wants a system that's maxed out before it even hits Europe, right guys?

Man, that PS3 is SUCH a failure. LOL @ Sony once AGAIN!!!

By that logic a Mercedes CL65 (612 hp) is more fun to drive than a Lotus Elise (160something hp).

I don't even think there's that much difference between the 612 and the 599's drive qualities. Both are heavy front-engined Ferraris with big V12s. Yes, the 612 is a bit heavier and has 3.4 hp less, but it doesn't say "LOOK AT ME, I AM A PENIS ROCKET!" and to me that's a good thing.

Edit:

One more thing about the 599: The "Launch Control" feature.

It only manages the given time for 0-60 acceleration if you activate the LC by pushing a button before you step on the gas.

And like that wasn't bad enough, after three LC starts you need a new clutch. YAY! That's awesome. :icon27:

I'm not saying that horsepower is the sole factor in determining how much fun a car is to drive. I'm saying that given the choice of Ferraris to drive, I'd most likely go with the big, beastly 599GTB. In all honesty, if you think that the 599 looks like a PENIS ROCKET, then you have to think that the 612 does, too. They don't look THAT much different, after all.

Didn't know that bit about the launch control, though. That's gayer than 8 guys blowing 9 guys.

why?? the only one that was missing from GT4 was Route 11.
(granted that one is a sore spot, as it had alot of romatic appeal to fans of the first game)
hell, they even brought back that shit-pile "high-speed ring" track.

and bear in mind the GT:HD game is built ontop of GT4, GT5 should probably be able to surpass GTR in terms of physics and visuals. though that is contingent in pollyphony actually concentrating on making a racing game, not a racing, rally, drag, uber experience. They spread themselves too thin in the last game... I wish they would dump the rally entirely, it's been pointless shit since GT2. They should leave the rally action to "proper" games like CMR, or make a completely different rally game from the ground up. (like they did with Tourist Trophy, rather than trying to stuff bikes into a GT game)

i dont know why everyone is talking down about GT4 so much, i like it the best out of all of the whole series...

allmost daily i will get a car, tweak it, tune it, continue to toy with it and see the outcome, try diffrent lines and etc to see the outcome.

This is somthing that i really couldent do that much in the other ones, Sure they gave you a few options and etc, but the LAck of car choices kept the play rather.. bland.

Now that i am thinking about it, i am going to take a few laps on Nurburgring... the real question is in what car? :)
